GOLD - SUDDENLY GOLD IMAGES
video installation by Hannah Heer & Werner Schmiedel
Gemeendemuseum, The Hague, Netherland
In cooperation with the WWVF 1985

A golden bridge leads the visitor to the installation. Six video monitors with images of waves and words/text are installed in the form of a wave. There is an omnipresent sound of waves, wind and bells.

VIDEO ARTISTS PLAY LESS GOD IN PARADISE
"Hannah Heer and Werner Schmiedel could not have expressed it more clearly in their installation Gold - Suddenly Gold Images: We need to look for the gold in the arts. It's not about whether painting is dead, film passé and video new. We wanted to pay homage to all those forms. They are all about light, which has been fundamental in the visual arts since the Renaissance. In Gold, we created a hitherto unpalatable color of gold with video. Art should be about love and esteem. About "golden experiences. We hope our installation delivers that."

VIDEOKUNSTENAARS SPELEN MINDER GOD IN PARADIJS
Over 'gouden ervaringen'. We hopen dat onze installatie dat oplevert."
